The Corporation for Supportive Housing is spreading the word about
MINDS ON THE EDGE by featuring it on the front page of our website and highlighting it in the October 14, 2009 CSH Homefront e-newsletter issues that reaches more than 5,000 subscribers around the country.
CSH distributed the
MINDS ON THE EDGE DVD and materials at its Supportive Housing & Criminal Justice National Forum & Dialogue in early November where an estimated 150 participants gethered to build inter-agency collaborations among housing, mental health, corrections, substance use, and other public agencies. The Forum has a robust host committee that includes the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the Association of State Correctional Administrators, the Council of State Governments, the National Alliance to End Homelessness, the CMHS National GAINS Center and the National Association of State Alcohol/Drug Abuse Directors.
The
MINDS ON THE EDGE initiative complements CSH's broader strategy to create effective service and housing systems around the country to prevent and end homelessness. Enhancing mental health care support and delivery systems is critical to our overall mission to combat chronic homelessness through supportive housing, and our efforts to promote national healthcare reform.
MINDS ON THE EDGE provides an ideal platform for discussions of public policy and programmatic practices in the field. It furthers the work that CSH is already undertaking with influential government officials and advocates such as CSH Board Members PA Public Welfare Secretary Estelle Richman and author Pete Earley, and progressive supportive housing providers such as Sam Tsemberis.
