National Resource Center for Hispanic Mental Health

MINDS was featured at the first Biennial National Latino Mental Health Conference in Miami on November 8-10. This historic conference was planned by the National Resource Center for Hispanic Mental Health in collaboration with leadership from organizations including the National Latino Behavioral Health Association, the National Association of Puerto Rican and Hispanic Social Workers, the Latino Behavioral Health Institute and others.

The screening event featured a panel of Latino mental health experts who discussed how the systemic issues identified in the program are amplified for and exacerbated in the Hispanic community as a result of language barriers, cultural competency issues, stigma, and immigration politics. FFS staff led the session which included special guest Judge Steven Leifman of the Miami-Dade County Court Criminal Division and Special Advisor on Criminal Justice and Mental Health for the Supreme Court of Florida.

Conference participants all received DVDs of MINDS.
