SAMHSA Transformation State Grantees Annual Meeting
A two-hour screening and panel discussion was presented on November 18 for grant officers and other key stakeholders attending the annual SAMHSA Transformation State Grantee meeting, held this year in Annapolis, Maryland.
In her welcoming remarks at the conference, the director of SAMHSA's Center for Mental Health, Kathryn Power, described MINDS ON THE EDGE as a powerful media tool that can help mental health professionals effectively communicate with other stakeholders in their state.
The session focused on using MINDS ON THE EDGE as a catalyst to build consensus for systemic change. Fred Friendly Seminars staff led the session, which include viewing excerpts of the program and the presentation of regional examples for using MINDS as an educational tool for transformation. Dr. Thomas Simpatico described his Vermont state-wide initiative and state representatives from Missouri and Ohio shared their experiences and their plans for using the project as a tool for stakeholder engagement in their states.
DVDs were distributed to all attendees.
